We Won! We Won! Part III.V

Woohoo!!!! πŸ˜€ Yehey!! πŸ˜€ Wheeee!!! πŸ˜€ Asteeeeg!!! πŸ˜€ Galeng!!!! Panalo!!! πŸ˜€ *applause!*applause!*applause!* πŸ˜€

Hahaha, hindi naman ako masyadong high na high? πŸ˜‰ Can you guess why? (Oy, rhyming ‘yun!) Nanalo kasi kami sa singing contest sa office. Yehey!!! Whee!!! I love it!!!

Although, you may have noticed na Part III.V (3.5 hahaha na-gets n’yo ba? πŸ˜‰ ) lang imbis na Part IV ‘yung title ko. That’s because we actually only won 2nd place. Pero so what? Ang sagot ko diyan:

(Bonus points to whoever can figure out what movie that’s from.)

Hehehe! After all, I personally think na kaya lang kami second place was dahil natalo kami sa alam n’yo na, the ever important criteria — audience impact. Mayabang ako kaya sasabihin kong magaling kami, pero honest din ako kaya sasabihin ko ring pagdating sa audience impact ‘eh wala talaga kaming laban. Paano ba naman? 10 lang kami sa team, and we were against 9 other teams in the department, who each hadΒ mga 10 members din. And of course, none of them ever cheer for us, kasi, ewan ko rin. Haha! No, kasi nga, mga alien kami na madalas mag-solo. Hehehe. ‘Pag meron ngangΒ isa sa kanila na may birthday, invited buong department except our team. πŸ˜› Pero oks lang naman, nasanay na kami, plus, it’s really mostly our own fault, you know, for not socializing too much. But, I’m getting off-topic. I was talking about the singing contest.

We’d cheered as hard as we could when they announced my teammate’s name (for the purposes of this entry, let’s call her T). Yeah, all 10 of us cheered. Haha. Well, okay, we did have some friends from other departments. And by some, I mean about 3 people. Haha! But again, it’s fine. I think we cheered loud enough for everyone to know that TΒ had some real loyal supporters. Haha. One of the judges even mentioned us and said “You’ve got a great cheering squad!” Wheee!! That’s us! πŸ˜‰ Hehehe. Although speaking of the cheering thing, I really didn’t like how some girl would always raise the banner they made for the other contestants whenever we would cheer. I mean, she was obviously supporting the other contestant and was doing it as an “in your face” kind of thing, which is really just so low. I mean yeah, we don’t cheer for the others as much, but we also don’t sabotage or boo them. But whatever. Complaining about it more will only make my IQ points drop (if they haven’t already just by being offended).

Anyway, T did really well. She sang My Immortal and she even had the “Amy Lee look”. Seriously, she was in a black dress and hi-cut boots, plus dark make-up. And we asked the special effects people to turn down the lights, too. You know, to get the atmosphere.Β  She hit all the notes, save for one, around the end, and you could tell it was because she ran out of air because the note before that was really hard. But the judges said that it didn’t really affect her performance that much, since it was after all just one note.

Biases aside (oh, who am I kidding, of course I’m biased, but I will tell you why I didn’t like the other performances), I really think that it was T’s performance that showed the most amount of skill. But I’ll give points to the other 2 contestants as well, since by choosing an upbeat song (i.e. I Kissed a Girl, Jai Ho), they really got the crowd going. One of the judges even said that she felt like dancing along with the contestant who sang Jai Ho.

Anyway… After all the performances were done and deliberation was over, I knew that we were only going to get 2nd place. Because sabi ko nga, talo talaga kami sa audience impact. It’s really weird ‘pag nandito ka. I mean, on normal days, we don’t really notice it, kasi we’re all working and don’t need to interact with each other much, pero tuwing may event na ganito, kitang-kita mo talaga — it’s Them v.s. Us. Hahaha! Pero ano ba, bring up ako nang bring up niyan, nakakalimutan ko tuloy ‘yung point.

The judges were so nice to say that T was “only behind by 1 point“. I mean, if that’s not a clear indication that she had talent, then I don’t know what is. And here’s a secret: After the awarding ceremonies and encore and other hullaballoo, one of the judges approached T and told her, “It was a really great performance, but we didn’t choose you as the winner, because of the crowd.

WHOA! Way to validate what I had in the back of my mind! Haha! But we didn’t really make anything of it, unless you know, unless we wanted around 90 angry people glaring at us everyday in the office. But you know what, I think they’ll do it anyway? Hehe. You know, our supervisor even had to remind us to cheer and support M, the winner, when she was doing her encore song. Because our team had actually already gone out of the venue and were taking pictures — enjoying ourselves, but with just ourselves. Hahaha. We even made quite a ruckus when we got back to our work stations, too. Although that’s nothing new since we’ve always been the noisiest team anyway. (Yeah, that’s why we’re a, and I quote — “great cheering squad”! Hahaha!)

Right. I have a feeling that all of this is going to be too wordy and isn’t going to make a lot of sense tomorrow, but haha, whatever. I’m still high on excitement. And this is without alcohol!Β  Haha! (Oh great, now that I mentioned alcohol, you’re all going to think that I’m drunk, aren’t you? Well, I’m not. Get my blood tested (or is it urine that you’re supposed to test?) if you want. Haha!)

Right. Stopping this now and going back to work. Would you believe, after all that, I still have work to go back to?!?

Events Day

Posting this in the early morning kasi sigurado na’kong wala na’kong oras mamaya. It’s 6:09AM right now, in case you’re curious.

Events Day today! As in, maraming events ang mangyayari ngayon. Or, maybe konti lang, pero ‘pag iniisip ko parang ang dami talaga.

Happy 23 Takeshi!

It’s Takeshi Yasutoko’s birthday today!! πŸ˜€ Happy Birthday to him!! πŸ˜€ I can’t believe I’ve been following his career since he was 10.Β But guess what — his career started when he was even younger than that! Hehehe.

If you don’t know who he is, look him up. And be wonderfully surprised by this person whom I’ve been fangirling for for, wow — (here’s another realization) half of my life!

UuwiΒ na si Kuya

I’m not an only child anymore!

I’m actually technically the youngest of three, but because both my siblings have been abroad for the past 3 years, it’s been a running joke in our household that I’m an only child. It’s great sometimes, but it’s not really a lot of fun when you’re always in the spotlight. Your mistakes are always noticed!

It might be weird to have my brother around after so long, though. See, before he went abroad to work, he’d been living near his university (ADMU — it’s in QC. Yes! In the north! So very far away from our home!) since he graduated from high school, which was… whoa– 10 years ago!

So many realizations today, too! I can’t believe he hasn’t been living in our house for 10 years already! I mean sure, he comes home during the weekend, but he meets with his friends anyway so most of his time is still spent, er, not at home. We’re not actually that close, so I don’t really notice it, but yeah, it’ll probably be weird at least for the first couple of weeks. But hey, like I said, at least I’m not an only child anymore! πŸ˜€

We Won! We Won! Part IV?

Party in our office today, and it involves the final round of the singing contest I was telling you about in the previous entry, and also the other contests (i.e. dating game and quiz bee). My teammates all made it to the final round (of course!), but are we going to win?

I’m keeping my fingers crossed. πŸ™‚

Of course, I’d love if we won all 3 events (though the dating game is just fun, it’s not for prestige of any kind). But even if we don’t, we’ve had so much fun just preparing for them, I think in some ways we’ve already won anyway. πŸ™‚ (Haha, way to keep positive!) But still, I hope we win everything and become overall champions! Not that there’s an award like that. Mayabang lang ako. Hehe.

Work Work Work

Lastly, and this is the part that I least like, ANG DAMING TRABAHO!!!!! πŸ˜₯

Happy Day

Happy Birthday to my best friend today! πŸ˜€

And I have other reasons (albeit small ones, but who cares? Any excuse to celebrate is fine with me. πŸ™‚ ) to celebrate, too:

I won! I won!

I won a consolation prize to the What’s Your Lamb Story? letter-writing promo of SANTIS Delicatessen. As its name says, I had to write a letter telling about my dining experience that involved lamb. I actually couldn’t think of anything to write and only did it because my mom told me to (haha!) and I waited until the last minute to submit it, too — I literally ran inside the mall to get to the store to submit my entry 5 minutes before their closing time. I actually didn’t make it because when I got there, their sign already said “Closed” but I knocked on their door anyway and asked if they would be kind enough to still accept my entry since I was only 5 minutes past closing time.

So sure, I didn’t win the real prize (a gift certificate worth P3000 to Santis and some other restaurants (I forgot which ones)), but I wasn’t counting on that very much anyway. What actually motivated me to join was in fact the consolation prize of — a lamb stuffed toy! πŸ˜€

I haven’t seen it yet. I still have to claim it from their main branch in Makati, but I’m hoping it’s cute. It sounds cute, right? A lamb stuffed toy? πŸ™‚

Oh, and BTW, the e-mail notifying me that I was one of the winners, contained the names of the other winners and Francis Kong, businessman, broadcaster, book writer, and public speaker extraordinaire, is also a winner of the consolation prize. πŸ™‚ And I’m sure it’s him because his e-mail address is the same one that’s on his website. So I’m guessing the ones who won the real prizes said really extraordinary things. πŸ™‚

P.S. I may also buy some cake today. πŸ™‚ Hooray for little reasons to be happy! πŸ˜€

Post Valentine Post

I told you it was a season. At least for me it is. It’s half a week since Valentine’s Day and yet I still have things Valentine-related to celebrate about. πŸ™‚ And this, coming from someone who’s single (and proud to be single! or maybe just proud. haha!). But how can I not be happy?

This year, for Valentine’s Day, our office held a contest — Write the Best Love Story Ever, or the Most Romantic Love Letter and win a prize! There would be two winners–one for Best Love Story, and another for Best Love Letter. And because I don’t like to take chances, I sent in an entry to both categories. And wouldn’t you know it, my entry for Love Story won! πŸ˜€

So, I actually put more effort into writing my entry for the Love Letter category, and most of the people who read it said that they think that the love letter I wrote is better, too. But I guess the judges had a different opinion, or they just really liked the fact that another person sent in a poem as her letter, so they made her the winner. πŸ™‚ It was a really cute poem actually, and it was definitely different from most of the angsty letters that the others (including myself) wrote. Anyway, what really puzzled me was the fact that my love story won. Seriously.

There were three entries for the love story category: One of those was about how a woman’s husband wrote a song for her and it was such a good song that it actually got sold to a real recording company. Another one talked about how two people coincidentally met on the train every Tuesday for a month, and eventually fell in love. It all sounds great, and way more epic than my high school-y mushy gushy “First Kiss” story. I don’t even think I followed the rules because we were supposed to write the “Best Love Story Ever”, and all I did was to describe one moment (in time? haha!) in a person’s life. But who am I to complain? The judges’ decision are final, and the judges decided in favor of my story, so I have no right to feel anything other than gratitude. Especially because I already claimed my prize, and guess what it is–

A 2GB Creative Muvo T200 MP3 Player!

Sheep and Creative Muvo T200

I claimed it from our office’s Events Committee this afternoon and put songs in it as soon as I got home. (Okay okay, no I didn’t. I took a picture of it first with my sheep. πŸ™‚ ) And I’m listening to it right this moment. πŸ™‚

And now I have even more reasons to celebrate Valentine’s Day! πŸ˜€ I love this holiday to bits!

Belated Happy Valentine’s Day to Everyone!!! πŸ˜€
