Geek Love <3

Right. Let’s take a break from all the Asian stuff and acknowledge that hey, I’m into American shows, too! πŸ™‚ Or, American sitcoms for that matter, or maybe it’s just because this show is about geeks, or whatever. I really just wanted to say–

CONGRATULATIONS to Jim Parsons!
Nominated at the Emmy’s for Best Actor in a Comedy Series!

Β
I really love him. ❀

I mean, I love all the people in the show and the whole show itself, but I guess maybe it would be weird if they all got nominated (including the show) since their ratings aren’t as high as the other more, er, well-established shows.Β  Although I’ll be honest and say that I really don’t get what’s with 30 Rock. I’ve seen it and don’t find anything funny — not Tina Fey, not Alec Baldwin, or Tracy whoever, or even the stories of the show. I just really don’t like it. But I know that that’s just me. Critics love it, and it’s won a lot of awards, too. So my conclusion is that I probably don’t like it because I’m not American and its humor is really very U.S.A.-centric.

Anyway, enough with the hate, and more with the LOVE!!!

I love Jim Parsons’ character in The Big Bang Theory. I really think that Sheldon was supposed to be an annoying character, but the way he plays it makes Sheldon absolutely adorable. πŸ˜€ (Just like how they were afraid that people wouldn’t like Rachel in FRIENDS because she’s spoiled and kind of a b*tch but because Jennifer Aniston’s a great actress, she made her character likeable.) And I think Jim Parsons really deserves the Emmy nomination, I mean, more than the rest of the cast (even though I think they’re all great), because I just think that there’s more responsibility put on his shoulders. He’s the one who has the most words to say, and the strangest habits, expressions and all that.

Another one I’d love to see get nominated is Simon Helberg for his portrayal of Howard Wolowitz. Okay, I love Johnny Galecki and Kunal Nayyar, too. But their characters are actually quite cool and not very geeky (or am I the only one who thinks this?), so I don’t think they’re that difficult to play. Howard Wolowitz, on the other hand, is such an obnoxious pig, but at the same time he has to be a genius and a good friend to the others, too. Besides, he’s the one with the worst/funniest costume/attire on the show, and come on, you have to give Simon Helberg, who I’m sure is not as strange in real life, an award for simply putting up with that. Haha.

And Kaley Cuoco as Penny is also great. πŸ™‚ But I think that for now, her character still doesn’t do a lot of things in the show. I mean she’s usually the catalyst for the stories to happen (well, her and Sheldon), but somehow she always just seems to be a secondary character to the guys. Hopefully in Season 3 she’ll get more screentime, so she can show off her acting prowess. I do think she’s perfect for the part, and deserves some acknowledgement, too. πŸ™‚

But this post is really just so I can fangirl about Jim Parsons. πŸ˜€ I don’t really care if he wins or not. I actually really don’t think he’s going to win, but even if he doesn’t, I think that’s okay. Because if he does, then they’re going to start Season 3 with just him (out of the other cast members)Β winning an Emmy, and that’s going to be a lot of pressure on him, considering he’s not the only lead character in the show, even if he seems like it.Β Don’t get me wrong, I like Johnny Galecki and his Leonard, too. I actually wish the writers give him more stuff to do. But last season was mostly about Sheldon. So, yeah, it’s Sheldon’s year! Congratulations to him! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

P.S. I also hope Hugh Laurie wins for House.

  1. Posting this in the comments because I’m too lazy to make a new entry/edit this one.

I do wonder why most of the other nominees are old, tired, and (let’s face it) BORING nominations. I mean, Alec Baldwin and Tony Shalhoub and Charlie Sheen… I mean, aren’t people already tired to seeing these names? Besides, it’s not like they’ve ever brought out anything new to their series’ and sorry, but I don’t like the series that they’re in.

I really hate 30 Rock. I mean, I like Tina Fey, but I hate Alec Baldwin and everyone else in it. And the show itself, I just don’t enjoy it. But again, like I said, maybe it’s because I’m not American. But I do believe though that shows should really go beyond their target markets and all that.

Anyway, another thing I was really disappointed about — nothing for Scrubs!! Why?!?!?! Seriously, why?!?!?! The last season was so good, every episode (okay, there was maybe 1 or 2 episodes in the middle of the season) made me cry!! I mean, Dr.Cox and JD and Turk and Carla and Elliot — this ensemble is really great! And the show is great, and the finale was just, too perfect for words! But I don’t know, for some reason, it’s always under the radar.

But didn’t I say before that I liked the fact that Scrubs isn’t a very popular series like Grey’s Anatomy (which is also something I hate), because that will just make all the mainstream posers watch it, and that’s never a good thing.

Right. So, in conclusion, yeah, I’m glad to for Jim Parsons, kind of sad that Big Bang Theory wasn’t nominated for Best Comedy Series, mad that Alec Baldwin is probably going to win, and somewhat teary-eyed that Scrubs (and everyone in it) didn’t get at least a nomination. I’d even settle for Courteney Cox in her guest role. But oh well, what are the Emmys and awards anyway? Proof of validation or something?

I’m gonna watch the shows I like even without the Emmys, and isn’t that what matters?
